ACTED Pakistan programmes range from short-term emergency responses to recovery and rehabilitation, as well as longer-term development initiatives. ACTED strategy is to target vulnerable communities affected by natural and conflict-related disasters as well as lack of socio-economic development.

Project Objective:

Adolescent and Adult Learning and Training Program (AALTP), for adolescents and adults who have missed an opportunity to avail education. The AALTP aims to provide accelerated formal primary education for vulnerable adolescents and basic functional literacy for adults together with a certified Skill Development / Vocational Training course for each learner for enabling them with varying opportunities of human capital development and socio economic growth.

Assignment

The Project Assistant-Education, would be responsible for overall center(s) management, developing and implementing teaching-learning plan with ultimate objectives of effective curriculum delivery, the achievement of departmental goals, learning outcomes and the meeting of targets and benchmarks.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Promote high standards in all aspects of center life, particularly in learners progress;
  • Actively support the values, vision, ethos, culture and policies of the center;
  • Inspire and motivate learners, teachers and other center employees;
  • Comply with the professional duties of the Harrow staff Code of Conduct;
  • Contribute to a center culture which is positive, purposeful and professional;
  • Engage positively in the center Appraisal process and performance management arrangements;
  • Are committed to safeguarding and to promoting the welfare of children and young people; 
  • Leading Teaching, Learning and Assessment
  • Set a model of excellence in classroom practice;
  • Liaise with colleagues across school to ensure smooth transition of learners between year groups/phases with regards to curriculum provision;
  • Identify ways learners can achieve ‘Mastery’ and support teachers in delivering this;
  • Work with the Center Head to use pupil progress data to identify key groups needing support or extension;
  • Liaise with Center Head to ensure the subject is well resourced and manage the purchase and organisation of resources;
  • Undertake a yearly cycle of self-evaluation and improvement planning on the delivery of the curriculum;
  • Track learners progress, monitor standards of learning and teaching in order to set realistic academic targets for learners;
  • Seek opportunities for inter-school collaboration and moderation;
  • Build strong relationships with parents and assist in the coordination and delivery of parent curriculum meetings and/or workshops as appropriate;
  • Any other assignment and additional role to be assigned by Supervisor. 

Technical Leadership:

The incumbent will lead on learners’ learning outcomes and ensure full compliance as per AALTP requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum BA, MA/B.Ed/M.Ed Bachelor will be preferred 

Preferred

  • Good experience of working with SMC`s/PTC`s/ Communities, teachers and learnerss for ensuring retention, attendance and consistency of education process.
  • Good understanding of challenges involved in implementing education and or non-formal education programmes for adolescent girls.
  • Good understanding of child safeguarding/protection issues in Pakistan. Particularly for girls.
  • Previous experience of working in education or non-formal education in Pakistan.
  • Excellent Sindhi language skills and good interpersonal, communication, motivation and presentation skills.
