Program Background Summary: Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) is five years USAID funded project starting June 2013 with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education (DoE) throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of at least 1.3 million children in grade one and two. The goal will be supported by three interrelated components including improved classroom learning environment for reading, improve policies and systems for reading and community based support for reading in Pakistan. The anticipated results include 23,800 teachers in 23,800 public schools with improved skills in teaching reading,3,649 scholarships for ADE and B.Ed (Hons) students, mobile bus libraries reaching out to 300 communities.
Job Overview/Summary
Major Responsibilities:
Conduct daily inspections to identify and address maintenance concerns, including but not limited to, problems with electrical and light fixtures, plumbing, windows, doors, and locks.
Carry out checks of designated facilities and provide responsive, helpful and good quality of service.
Carry out repair and maintenance work in offices, staff houses, and other facilities as assigned by the line manager/ Supply chain officer and ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Identify and request materials and supplies needed for routine maintenance in offices and staff houses.
Maintain tools and all allocated resources in safe and working order.
Ensure that all the effort is made to repair faults without delay and with minimum disruption.
Ensure all repair and maintenance jobs to be carried out in a timely manner without any inconvenience to staff.
Report major maintenance concerns and recommend courses of action for major repairs.
Operate the generator, as directed.
Help to set-up rooms for meetings and other activities.
Participate in professional training and development activities, as needed or requested.
Perform all other ad-hoc o duties, as assigned from time to time.
