Job Description:

Assignment

Under the supervision of the Deputy Project Manager and with the technical support of the ACTED Research and Development (R&D) Officer, project coordinators and Management Information Systems (MIS) Senior Officer, the Trainer is responsible for: (1) conducting of sector specific trainings sessions and (2) conduction of training via phone calls.

The ideal candidate shall have strong skills in conducting community based training session and should have sector specific expertise in either: water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); food security and livelihoods (FLS); or shelters and non-food items. The candidate will have capability to use electronic and communication devices and accurately input training participants’ data into Excel and Word processing formats.

Responsibilities:

Objective 1 -  Training Sessions :

  • Making  a training work plan, shared with Deputy Project Manager for review and approval  
  • Timely development (in consultation with relevant ACTED Staff) and printing of training material (including fact sheets etc) required for training session.
  • Select suitable training venue with collaboration of community organization.
  • Prior to the training session, trainers must invites trainees to the session via phone, based on the contact details (phone number) provided from ACTED’s database.
  • Provide key sector specific messages to beneficiaries based on the protocol and guidelines.
  • Must follow set protocol regarding the list of villages where training is conducted and keeping clear records of where and with whom training is conducted.
  • Identify and gauge the gap in knowledge amongst learners and make training delivery more efficient by using various training techniques.
  • Follow the training content and respect session timeline.
  • Conduct critical supervision of all aspects of the training and identify areas of concern or problems i.e. attendance, participation and learning outcomes. Submit workable solutions through refresher trainings and / or providing reference material.
  • Ensure signature/thumb properly maintained on attendance sheet by participants.
  • Record the list of absentees separately.
  • Submit training report and attendance sheets to database on daily bases.
  • Ensure communities develop a good understanding of the program (i.e. the purpose of trainings, how they can benefit the community etc.) while ensuring that community expectations are not raised unnecessarily.
  • Establish links and conduct meetings with the community organizations, leaders and different group existing in the working area in order to raise awareness about trainings and facilitate planning.

 

Objective 2 - Reminder Phone calls:

  • Making work plan for reminder phone calls based on calling plan/timeline set by ACTED.
  • Conduct calls best on the training content given in training manual and respect phone call timeline.
  • Maintain track record of phone calls (successful or not) and trial phone calls.
  • Properly filling the reminder phone call tool based on ACTED protocol so that actual beneficiaries can be effectively tracked. Maintain efficient and respectful communication during reminder phone calls.
  • Provide key sector specific messages to beneficiaries based on the protocol and guidelines.
  • Submit reminder phone calls report and filled tool to database on daily basis and adjust approach based on feedback from relevant ACTED staff.
  • Record the list of call dropped separately.
  • Establish a good understanding of the program (i.e. the purpose of trainings, how they can benefit the community etc.) within the community.

 

Objective 3 – Beneficiary accountability

·         Ensure that all relations with the communities we work with are conducted in a respectful and consultative manner.

·         Ensure that communities are adequately consulted and informed about purpose of the data-collection and ensure no false responses are given/recorded.

·         Orient community members about accountability mechanism and disseminate the telephone number.

 

Objective 4 - General objectives

  • Carry out all activities according to the objectives of the programme and the beneficiary involvement strategy.
  • Ensure on time completion of the tasks in line with the workplan.
    • The candidate will work six days a week (Monday to Saturday) excluding Sundays
