Job Description:

Job Purpose: 

The Assistant GBV Officer will support the implementation of Gender Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response activities in the target district. The role involves assisting in awareness-raising sessions, case management support, coordination with stakeholders, and ensuring referral mechanisms are effective and survivor-centered.

Technical:

1. Program Implementation

·       Support in planning and conducting GBV awareness-raising sessions at the community and center level.

  • Support GBV prevention and risk mitigation activities in collaboration with community groups.
  • Assist in developing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials for GBV awareness. 

2. Case Management & Referral

·       Provide initial support to survivors of GBV under supervision of GBV Officer.

  • Assist in maintaining a functional referral pathway with relevant service providers (health, psychosocial support, legal aid, protection).
  • Support survivors with safe and confidential referrals to appropriate services.
  • Maintain case files with strict confidentiality and data protection standards. 

3. Community Engagement & Capacity Building

·       Support in mobilizing communities, including men, women, and youth, to engage in GBV prevention initiatives.

  • Facilitate community dialogues and discussions on GBV, SRH, and protection issues.
  • Assist in training and orientation sessions for community volunteers, peer educators, and focal persons. 

4. Coordination & Reporting

·       Support coordination with local government departments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders on GBV-related activities.

  • Contribute to weekly and monthly activity reports.

·       Assist in monitoring and evaluation activities and provide data inputs for project reports.

Operational:  

·       Preparation of weekly/monthly work plans against PMT (performance-measured time frame) by ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks in the stipulated period.

·       Maintenance of hard records that includes field visit reports, CO meeting minutes, assessment records & other relevant documentation.

·       Ensure proper filling of forms & formats as per desired standard.

·       Extend support to MEAL / MIS / Communications staff for gathering desired information.

·       Ensure availability of up-to-date info in MIS regularly with the consultation of MIS / M&E.

·       Close coordination with line manager for effective implementation of project activities.

·       CM will identify and proactively communicate any issues that might affect the project implementation and engage community support with guidance from the line manager.

·       Must be flexible and adapt to changes quickly to the requirements of the changed situation. 

Organizational:  

·       Ensure compliance with IR’s policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities.

·       In depth understanding of IR values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities.

·       Abide by the IR zero tolerance policy towards bribery & corruption through sensitization / empowerment of communities on coping mechanism so that they can raise voice as & when feel inappropriate.

·       Thorough knowledge of IR strategic priorities to ensure effective implementation with future sustainability.

·       Assist in identification & documentation of organizational successes for show casing IR work

·       Facilitate communities in adaptation of environment friendly & cost effective approaches to meet their current as well as future needs with specific attention to climate change.

·       Focused efforts to be made for mainstreaming of marginalized groups i.e. Persons with disability and old age, minorities, Women & children etc in consultation & implementation of project activities at ground.

·       Strengthen mechanism to Influence the decision makers through communities to pay attention towards DRR planning, give voice to suffering and the excluded, highlighting the protection needs of people.

·       Participation and facilitation in implementation of IR seasonal programmes & emergency response.
